(martha) katie’s (camping) kep

Every year the folks that organize Shetland Wool Week, release a hat pattern and this year’s was a beauty! I particularly loved that this was a tribute to the designer’s mother and to the multitudes of colors the landscape inspires. (Read the whole interview here)

Just before we left for camping I pulled some colors from my tiny stash of Jamieson’s Spindrift* with the intention of knitting up the cap while we were in the north, away from distractions (including the distraction of cell phone signal!) As I sat in my chair in the woods and on the beach knitting away, I realized I had inadvertently chosen the colors of our landscape, which was pretty much perfect.

I’m thinking I might knit these gloves (adding full fingers on) in the same colors and have a nice little beachy-woodsy set come winter.

* Yarns ~ A: Granite, B: Oatmeal, C: Blue Danube, D: Shaela, E: Seaweed

**I’ll update the photos of the hat being worn once it cools down for the year!
